A shop that measures before it sells
Most of the difference between a good HVAC visit and a bad one out here comes down to whether anyone went upstairs with an instrument.
Who we are
Roswell Avenue, Chino
A small shop, working the western Inland Empire. Chino Hills, Ontario, Montclair and Eastvale are ten or fifteen minutes away and almost everything we do is inside that ring.
Working one valley over and over has an advantage: after a while you stop guessing. The tracts here were built in waves, and the houses in each wave behave the same way. When somebody in Eastvale says the upstairs is unbearable after three o'clock, we usually know what we are going to find before we get there — and we still measure it, because usually is not always.
The person who quotes your job is the person who does it. There is no sales department, because there are not enough of us to have one.
How we work
Four things we will not bend on
- Measure first
- Including upstairsStatic pressure, register airflow on both floors, temperature split, amp draws. Diagnosing an upstairs complaint from the downstairs thermostat is guessing with an invoice attached.
- A price before the work
- Scope and figure in writing, approved by you. If something else turns up once a panel is off, we stop and re-quote rather than continuing and explaining afterwards.
- No commission
- Nobody earns more by selling a systemIt is the only arrangement under which "seal the ducts and fix the return, and leave the equipment alone this year" can be a real recommendation.
- We will not oversize it
- Even when asked to. A bigger unit on a two-storey tract home makes the upstairs problem worse, and we would rather lose the job than install something we know will disappoint you in August.
Credentials
The boring part that protects you
Ask any contractor for these before they touch the house. We would rather you did.
Refrigerant handling
EPA Section 608 certified technicians, proper recovery equipment, and refrigerant handled and recorded as the regulations require.
Permits & Title 24
We pull the permit on changeouts that need one, prepare the Title 24 documentation, schedule the inspection and hand over the closed permit.
Being straight
What we do not do
Knowing what to turn down is most of what keeps a small shop good at the rest.
- Commercial rooftop work, warehouses and refrigeration. There is a lot of it around here and it is a different trade.
- A 24-hour emergency service. In August we are booked; claiming otherwise would be a promise we could not keep.
- Jobs well outside the western Inland Empire. If we cannot get back quickly, we should not have taken it.
- Installing equipment somebody else supplied. We warranty what we fit, which means we choose it.
- Selling a bigger unit to a two-storey house with an airflow problem, however much easier that conversation would be.
